FedEx Custom Critical (FedEx)

FedEx Custom Critical is North America's largest time-specific, critical-shipment carrier. Its fleet is made up of independent contractors and fleet owners running straight trucks and tractors, and its load board is open only to that contracted fleet. Connected to Cargofy, the loads you are entitled to see appear in Load Hub next to offers from your email and your exchanges. The dispatcher who keeps the board open all day usually switches it on.

Set the return lane before the truck is empty

A contractor is unloading in Columbus and wants freight toward Detroit. The dispatcher sets an auto-search in Load Hub: origin radius around Columbus, destination near Detroit, large straight truck, pickup window through tomorrow. Load Hub reads the FedEx Custom Critical board under the fleet's own extranet account and matches new posts against the search. Each match arrives as a notification card with lane, timing and vehicle class, so the shortlist is ready before the doors close.

Catch a same-day load early

A same-day load posts at 14:10. FedEx Custom Critical runs 24 hours a day with no scheduled runs, and load acceptance counts toward its Elite Fleet Award. The auto-search fires, and the digital worker checks the post against the truck's position and remaining hours and marks it as a fit. The dispatcher reads the lane and pickup time on the card and confirms. The digital worker then sends the request through the fleet's board account, and the load shows as requested in Load Hub with a timestamp.

Book with one confirmation

The dispatcher picks a load from the shortlist and presses confirm on the card. The digital worker sends the booking request on the board under the fleet's account, and the board's response lands on the load's timeline. The load moves to the booked column, and the driver's assignment goes out from Load Hub.

Run the load in the extranet

After booking, the owner-operator extranet remains the place for running information. FedEx Custom Critical describes it as a password-protected contractor site that shows where your trucks are, completed runs with revenue, and paperwork to download or order. The dispatcher runs the load there. Load Hub holds the load record with the lane and the board reference, so the file is complete when the run closes.

Check the week against the settlement sheet

On Friday morning the fleet owner wants every run accounted for. FedEx Custom Critical pays weekly settlements, and the extranet posts settlement sheets up to a week before they arrive by mail. The fleet owner puts the week's booked list in Load Hub beside the sheet and works through it run by run. Any run without a matching line goes to the Contractor Settlements team, with the date.

How it fits your stack

Your FedEx Custom Critical extranet account stays the account of record. Cargofy reads the loads that account is entitled to see and sends requests under it. You confirm every booking. Contracting happens on the FedEx side first: the board is limited to current owner operators and fleet owners in its fleet, and carriers running under their own authority do not get access. Setup is per fleet, on request. Load and account data is stored in the EU, in Frankfurt. Status, POD and settlement stay in the extranet, and Cargofy does not write status updates to FedEx Custom Critical.
