Samsara

Samsara is a fleet telematics platform: GPS gateways, ELDs and sensors on tractors and trailers, with location, hours of service and vehicle diagnostics exposed over a REST API. Connected to Cargofy, every load on your own trucks shows a live position and an ETA to the next stop, and pickup and delivery statuses update automatically. The fleet or dispatch manager of a shipper that runs its own tractors usually switches it on.

Pickup and delivery status from the geofence

A truck leaves a plant in Reno for a DC in Sacramento. The dispatcher used to call the driver twice, to confirm departure and arrival. Cargofy writes the pickup and delivery addresses to Samsara as geofences, and a GeofenceEntry webhook at the DC sets the load to arrived. The dispatcher sees the change in Tracking, and the customer gets the update without a phone call.

Plan the next leg on the driver's actual hours

A return load out of Sacramento for tonight lands in Load Hub. When the planner opens it, Cargofy reads the driver's HOS clocks and available hours from Samsara and shows them next to the load, with an ETA the driver can legally make. If the hours fit, the planner books the return leg. If not, the planner sees the shortfall in Load Hub before booking and covers the load another way.

Start the detention clock at the dock

The truck sits inside the DC's geofence past free time. A digital worker opens a detention record on the load with the entry timestamp from the fence and keeps counting until the GeofenceExit event. When the AP clerk or the customer asks about the detention charge, the load in Tracking carries times recorded by the truck.

Catch a fault code before the receiver calls

A fault code or low fuel reading comes through the vehicle stats feed on a loaded truck. Cargofy matches it to the active load and opens an exception in Tracking. A digital worker tells the dispatcher which load is at risk and how far the truck is from its next stop. The dispatcher decides whether to swap the truck or push the delivery, and the receiver gets the delay with a new ETA.

Bring safety events into the weekly review

When a speeding or harsh braking event fires on a loaded truck, Cargofy reads it from Samsara and pins it to the load, the driver and the lane. On Monday the fleet manager opens Reports and reviews the week's events by driver and by lane, with no export from the Samsara dashboard. The report shows which lanes produce the most events, so routing decisions and driver conversations start from the same numbers.

How it fits your stack

Your TMS and Samsara stay the systems of record. Vehicles, drivers and HOS logs live in Samsara; Cargofy reads them and does not edit them. Cargofy reads locations, geofence and route stop events, HOS, vehicle stats and safety events. It writes only addresses and geofences for pickup and delivery points. Setup is an API key: your admin generates a token under Settings, API Tokens, and scopes it by tag. Tracking is active the same day. Third-party carrier trucks are not visible.

Who it is for

Shippers with a private fleet on Samsara, in North America or Europe. Dispatchers watch positions and detention, transport planners use HOS-aware ETAs, and the IT admin owns the token. Loads on outside carriers need a separate visibility source.
