DAT

DAT is a North American load board where brokers post freight and carriers post trucks. Connect it and your dispatcher searches and books, posts trucks the moment they free up and pulls lane rates to negotiate with.

DAT is the largest load board in North America and, for most shippers, where spot freight gets covered. Connected to Cargofy, open loads go from Load Hub to DAT as posts, matching trucks and carrier contacts come back onto the load, and RateView rates sit next to every quote in Sales. Transport planning usually switches it on; the IT admin holds the DAT service account.

What teams use it for

Cover a declined load before lunch

A contract carrier declines a dry van load on Monday morning. The planner marks the load for cover in Load Hub, and it posts to DAT with lane, equipment and dates from the load. A digital worker keeps the post fresh, reads matching trucks from LoadSearch and ranks them against the RateView rate for the lane. Then it starts outreach to the contacts DAT returns. The planner gets a ranked shortlist on the load card.

Check every carrier quote against the lane

A carrier emails a rate for Chicago to Dallas. In Sales, every quote shows the RateView low, mid and high for the lane, spot and contract. The procurement lead sees whether the number sits above mid and pushes back with the market rate in hand. The same columns price outbound customer quotes.

Book the truck without a phone call

Outreach lands a carrier at the target rate, and the planner approves it on the load card. The digital worker books the load through BookNow and writes the booking to DAT, which takes the post down so no second carrier calls about it. In Load Hub the load changes to booked, with the carrier and contact on it.

Answer the consignee without opening DAT

The consignee in Dallas calls customer service asking where the truck is. DAT Tracking statuses and positions flow into Tracking over webhook as DAT sends them. Customer service reads the last position and status on the load and answers on the same call.

Keep the board clean when plans change

A pickup date slips or a load is cancelled. Stale posts draw calls the planner has to turn away. Cargofy refreshes and removes the posts it made from Load Hub as the load changes, so DAT matches what is open in Load Hub. The planner edits the load once.

How it fits your stack

Your TMS or ERP stays the system of record for the load. Load Hub works from it, and DAT sees only what you choose to post. Cargofy writes posts and BookNow bookings to DAT and reads truck matches, carrier contacts, RateView rates and tracking statuses back. Tracking arrives over webhook, with no polling. Setup is an API key: your DAT admin creates a service account and enters it in Cargofy settings, and posting runs the same day. Cargofy does not edit posts made by hand in DAT. RateView is a separate DAT subscription; without it the rate columns in Sales stay empty.

Who it is for

Shippers moving spot truckload freight in North America, from a few loads a week to a daily cover desk. DAT also sells to brokers and carriers. A shipper gains most when its own planners cover freight and a procurement team wants market rates behind every quote.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What freight teams want to know before putting AI to work.

What parts of freight procurement can Cargofy automate?

Cargofy can support carrier sourcing, outreach, follow-up, bid collection, comparison, and the next approved execution step. The exact level of automation depends on the rules and approval modes configured by your team.

Does Cargofy communicate directly with carriers?

The intended workflow supports coordinated communication across phone, email, and messaging. Specific channels and integrations should be confirmed during implementation.

Can our team approve a carrier before booking?

Yes. The workflow can be designed around human approval, predefined execution rules, or a combination of both.

How does Cargofy compare bids?

Yes. The workflow can be designed around human approval, predefined execution rules, or a combination of both.

How does Cargofy compare bids?

Cargofy brings carrier responses into one structured view so your team can compare rate, timing, requirements, and carrier fit before making a decision.

Can we start with one lane or facility?

The recommended rollout is to begin with a focused workflow, validate the operating rules, and expand after the team is comfortable with the process

Will Cargofy replace our current systems?

Cargofy is intended to connect procurement work across your existing operational environment. The exact implementation depends on the systems and integrations already used by your team.

How are actions and decisions recorded?

The proposed workflow keeps carrier communication, bid updates, approvals, and execution steps connected to the load. Confirm the exact audit-history behavior before publication.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation depends on the workflow, integrations, and level of automation required. Book a demo to define the right starting point for your team.
